Laminated Glass: Laminated glass consists of two lites of equal thickness (¼") bonded together with a polyvinyl butyral (pvb) interlayer. Even though this is a very rare situation, if the glass should break, the pvb interlayer will allow the glass to remain in the skylight frame, and thus you will not have pieces and shards of glass reining down inside of your home. Heat-strengthened glass is also twice as strong as regular annealed glass and is used in all of our skylights.

 

 

Insulated Glass: Insulated glass consists of a ¼"     thick, heat-strengthened outer lite over a ½" dual sealed airspace, over a 3/8" heat strengthened, laminated inner lite. Because of its natural thermal properties, insulated glass is almost always used over a space where energy efficiency is a concern.

 

 

Specifically designed for very hot climates, PPG Solarban 60TM glass reduces heat loss by reflecting the heat back into the space. This maximizes energy efficiencyand reduces your heating bills. Since it reflects the sun's solar infrared energy back to the outside atmosphere, this helps to keep your home cooler which will lower your cooling costs as well in the summer.
