Secured Entries, Inc. has clients that like to have something a little bit different when they’re building their custom homes. We have started to offer not only custom built garage doors and skylights, but also ornate ceilings and moldings which are also custom built to your design!
Many people choose to use plaster or gypsum moldings over polyurethane and wood products because the wood and polyurethane products will shrink and expand continually due to changes in temperature and humidity. Polyurethane moldings will also "age" shrink.
These materials are also fire rated; the tests give near zero flame and smoke ratings. Polyurethane will burn when exposed to flames but the biggest danger, as with any type of material, is the amount of smoke that’s produced.
Our ornate ceiling materials are for interior use only, and none are structural; they are decorative only and must be attached to pre-built framing.
All of the products that Secured Entries, Inc. offers are manufactured after an order is received. The amount of time required to manufacture your order depends upon the size of the order, our work load at the time of the order, and whether the parts are standard or must be custom manufactured. If you should need part of the order ahead of time, we will also contact our manufacturer and request a partial shipment for the part of the order which has been completed.
GRG (Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum) and plaster products are supplied unpainted for finishing after they have been installed. After applying the correct primer paint, any latex or oil based finish can be applied. Because of the type of materials used, surface pinholes may appear, but these can be filled at the time of prime painting by your painter. It is recommended that a high-gloss finish not be used.
These products are not suitable for use on floors. They should also not be used in high humidity areas and should not be cleaned with caustic cleaning chemicals.
Since GRG is for interior use, it should be installed by the drywall or plaster contractor. Wherever the profile permits, tape joints are built into the ends in order to allow for standard tape joint treatment. Our CAD drawings will contain information on the recommended methods of installation.
QuarryCast® (Molded Stone) and MetalCast® products are normally installed by the millwork contractor or the finisher. The products have pre-finished surfaces and must be stored and handled with extreme caution and care
Most of our work is custom. It if can be drawn on a sheet of paper, it can usually be custom made! It is more expensive to create a custom mold rather than ordering one that’s already been manufactured. However, when a specific "look" or size is preferred, we can provide exactly what you need. It will be a one of a kind mold that you will never see in anyone else’s home.
For catalog items, Secured Entries, Inc. can provide standard drawings (or cut-sheets) for your records. However, for custom projects, shop-engineering drawings will be prepared and submitted for your approval prior to commencement of manufacture. Our drawings will show you the sections and where applicable, elevations, fastening and hanging locations etc.
Price lists for our products do not exist. Pricing is based on an individual project basis because material types, quantities, total project size and molds (standard vs. custom) will all influence final pricing. Even molds that have already been manufactured need to be reclaimed from storage, checked for wear or damage and if less than perfect, repaired or replaced.
Once on-site, these materials should be stored in a climate-controlled environment and away from water. Loose pieces should be stored in a vertical position to prevent the possibility of warping or bowing.
Secured Entries, Inc. offers a standard one (1) year warranty "on material only" for all of our ornate ceiling and custom mold products.
